What affects DO levels in water?

The concentration of dissolved oxygen in water is affected by:

  • Water temperature - DO levels fall in warmer temperatures
  • Salinity - oxygen is less soluble in water with higher levels of salinity
  • Atmospheric pressure - oxygen pressure reduces at altitude; less dissolved oxygen is absorbed in water as altitude increases.

A DO meter should takes all of these parameters into account.
