If the dissolved solids are not the same as those in the calibration solution, it is best to make your own solution for calibrating. Use salts in relative proportions to those in the sample you will be testing. Dissolve 1mg of the salt mixture in a liter of distilled water. This will equate to 1ppm TDS.
