What is salinity and how do I measure it?

Salinity is the amount of dissolved salts in a sample, measured in parts per thousand (ppt) or parts per million (ppm). You use the same probe as you would for measuring conductivity and apply a correction factor to the reading. The reading will be converted to parts per million of NaCI (sodium chloride or common salt).
