How much electrolyte solution should the probe contain?

The pH probe should contain electrolyte solution to 1 cm below the filling hole. This will prevent the water sample from passing through the diaphragm into the probe due to the hydrostatic pressure applied to the diaphragm. The thick gelling agent inside protects the electrolyte salts, so they do not dissolve and become lost in the sample.
