Do I need to do anything differently if I am measuring low ionic strength or deionized water?

Yes. With low ionic strength samples and deionized water, you need specially designed probes. Since low ionic strength samples contain little or no salt, they try to get the salt out of the electrolyte solution in standard pH probes, and this causes an inaccurate reading. Probes for water with low ionic strength have high reference electrolyte flow rates to ensure a free-flowing reference junction.
